Beer of the Week (February 11, 2007)
Because literature, like baseball, would be a lot less interesting without alcohol.
This week’s beer of the week is: Pyamid Apricot Ale.
Brewed by: Pyramid Ales & Lagers
The Tap: Apricot is a funny flavor to find even in a wheat beer, but it works. The taste is distinctive, but not overwhelmingly sweet. The ale is unfiltered which means it’s a little cloudy, but it’s a beautiful amber color.
The Coaster: Apricot beer? Really? I’m the adventurous type, so as soon as I saw it, I said, “I’ve gotta try that.” I’ll admit I wasn’t expecting something very good, but I was quite surprised. Pyramid Ales & Lager is located in the small logging town of Kalama, Washington, but its beers are widely available. One of these days I’m going to try their seasonal brew Curveball, because baseball, like literature…well, you know.
Rating: Three pints (out of six)
