This week’s word of the week is: nectar. In Greek mythology it was the drink of the gods. With a revived interest in classical mythology in the Renaissance, “nectar” came to be applied to any sweet drink, including wine, but also sweetened fruit juice. Certain fruits, such as mangoes, peaches, and pears aren’t squeezed for their juice but the flesh is pureed into a liquid called nectar. Nectar is also the sugary liquid secreted by many flowering plants to attract pollinators.
With the weather getting warmer, what could be better than a little nectar?
