This week’s word of the week is: ubiquitous. Derived from the Latin word ubique, it’s simply a fancy way of saying, “found everywhere”. For an interesting use of the word “ubiquitous”, check out the article Focusing on U. gibba–the “U” stands for ubiquitous by Dr. Barry Rice. Actually the “U” in U. gibba stands for Utricularia, since it’s a kind of aquatic bladderwort that, as Dr. Rice explains, is found almost across the continental United States. It’s an easy to grow, attractive plant with a yellow flower. For more pictures of it and other interesting plants, check out his Galleria Carnivora.
